I have a MAC's microphone and a PC's mic, the connector is all 3.5 mm, but the MAC's is longer than the PC's connector and can not plug complete in to the Audio Line-In port of the PowerBook G4 867 12" . The internal microphone is not disconnected when the external plugging in. The external mic is not work, but built in mic is work still.

Audio in is not a mic in. Its line level in. So it will not provide the power needed to run a mic. This input works when you plug something that has its own power source into it. (not "powered" these are for speakers) You want line level going in there.

That would have worked, except the type of audio line-in port that a PowerBook G4 has is designed for an active (powered) sound signal such as from a battery powered mic, not a passive sound signal such as from an iPod. Bugger. *I discovered there is something called an iMic that plugs into the USB port and allows for passive sound input.
