Seandtaylor is correct, had an Audiolab 8000c from new for over 10 years, sold it to a friend 4 years ago, still going strong. Its pretty neutral has a good phono stage and performs way above its price range. If it is at a reasonable price buy it. The 8000C lacks remote NEEDS to be paired with quality CD (source) that is on the "coloured" side and has modern D/A conversion - nothing else will do the 8000P & 8000C justice. Don´t even think about connecting these babies to some old flat sounding cd player or cheap DVD. This is for the combo audiolab 8000C & 8000P bought used.

Having owned the Audiolab 8000A series III for a number of years I can give, I hope, a reasonably accurate account of it. I bought it at the time for its accuracy - being partnered with a mildly warm Philips CD850 and mildly forward Tannoy 613's. In reality, it is mildly coloured. Mid range is slightly forward and hi treble is rolled back.
