Audigy 2 works good if you want just dat recordings, (48khz @ 16bit). For some reason creative labs and working with the alsa project isn’t happening. In fact, I’m currently looking into finding a 192khz @ 24bit card for recording on Ardour (I like it that much!) In fact, the quality sounds pretty good as long as you don’t over-drive the input.

Just loaded 9.04 on this box that has a built in Via sound chip (disabled in BIOS) and a much better SoundBlaster Audigy 2 card. The Via chip, despite being shut off in BIOS is recognized and works fine. The Audigy 2 chip is also recognized but no sound whatsover. Yes, I have tried the Analog/Digital switch as suggested by many but that does not work.

I hope someone can help me out here. I have a sound blaster audigy 2 ZS sound card and I can't get it to work. I am on Ubuntu 5.04 and had it working before. I had to do a reinstall onto a new HD, old one bit the dust. I have also tried installing the alsa-driver 1.0.9b and still no sound. I have disabled onboard sound as well. My specs are:
