Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Right click on speakers/whatever you use as an output > Configure > Choose: Stereo > Next > Check: Front left and right > Next > Finish. If that doesn't work then I have no idea.

i keep my speakers set up to just stereo in windows sound settings ..you may wanna adjust your bit rate too as yea its an older game. and sorry but no FAR CRY 3 may not fully support 7.1 or above sound setups .. you may need to manually adjust your sound settings in windows. as you can see here it only supported up to 5.1.
