The Fathom f113 looks at first glance like an ordinary subwoofer—a 13.5″ cone driver in a sealed rectangular black box with front-panel controls and rearpanel heatsinks and input jacks. The unit accepts unbalanced input signals on RCA jacks or balanced signals …

The JL Audio Fathom f113v2 is a significant improvement over what I already considered to be the “go-to” subwoofer in the price range. In one sense the Fathom isn’t inexpensive; you can find lots of subwoofers for under $1k.

The F113, I would say is the best small sub there is, the only negative is price. That's not the only negative; the rolled off top end means you wouldn't want to utilize an XO much higher than 80Hz. That can be a problematic if you'd like to use a small subwoofer with small speakers. S shadyJ Speaker of the House Staff member Mar 21, 2016 #8

Same problem here. I purchased a Fathom F113 subwoofer from Cherry Creek Audio in Denver Colorado. The subwoofer made this noise as soon as plugged in and turned on. No input cables attached. Cherry Creek audio said that it was a blown amplifier in the subwoofer and they offered to fix it - FOR A FEE!
