So, when I saw the name of the original producer on the DVD-Audio released of L.A. Woman, I thought that it would share all the qualities of the fine CD remaster, only with better sound quality and surround sound. However, this DVD-Audio release is quite disappointing.

I greatly enjoyed stumbling across the extended intro to the song "L.A. Woman" on the 2001 DVD-A disc. I own the Perception DVD-A box, but I can't remember if the intro was also on that disc. I'm also not sure if its a 5.1 only thing or if its also on the hi-res stereo track. I think it might just be a 5.1 only thing.

The only DVD audio that was released in 2001 was L.A Woman. As for the Perceptions box set I've heard mixed things. I agree with the person who posted above. I hope the new SACDs for the other titles can compete with the quality of the 2001 DVD A of L.A Woman.

Well, certainly hearing it in DVD-Audio certainly changes the album a fair deal. It also demonstrates that some of these songs are actually better than I have long believed. Sure, the stand-out tracks remain Riders On The Storm, Love Her Madly and L.A. Woman, but there is more to the album than just those three big ones.

Buy L.A. Woman [DVD AUDIO] at Amazon. Having owned this album on vinyl in my teens, I wanted a CD copy now. I was a tad disappointed to find some of the tracks have been altered slightly, but not by much and I can live with the differences, although why L.A. Woman has had the first bar or two of The Star Spangled Banner added at the beginning beats me.
