That doesn't mean a dummy load is useless. A non-inductive resistor of the proper value (usually 2,4,8, or 16 ohms) with sufficient power handling capacity works quite well for most testing. If you need to check for stability under reactive loads, you may need to add inductance/capacitance in series or parallel with that resistance.

DIY Speaker / Amplifier Dummy Load - DIY AUDIO …

DIY Speaker / Amplifier Dummy Load This is a simple DIY Speaker dummy load that was put together very quickly. After constructing an AMP6 T-Amp kit , and while testing the maximum power output using 4.7 ohm 50W ceramic power resistors the hot resistors had begun to scortch a cutting mat they were resting on and also melting the wire insulation of test leads …

Audio Dummy Load - Pete Millett's DIY Audio pages

A nice dummy load. I've been building audio amplifiers for years. And until now I've always used just a bare wirewound resistor with some banana plugs as a test load. Well, no longer! I now have a very nice dummy load: It's a simple thing, really, but I thought others might get some inspiration and/or at least be interested in the sources for ...

I implemented a 4/6/8Ohm Dummy load using 50W 4Ohm resistors. they are screwed to the top slighly curved surface, so I used 1mm thick thermal pad (Gelid Solutions GP-Ultimate) I used my 3D printer to print tempates for the cut out & the holes, Fins are 38mm centres, resistors I used were 40mm, hence on a slant. 1mm Thermal pad visible all around.
