    The M9BA model came from the original Audio & Design company whose John Wright designs were subsequently bought by Keith Monks after it got into financial difficulty. There were actually two A&D tonearm designs, the M12BA and the M9BA. The initial "M" stood for Mercury whilst "BA" stood for Broadcast Arm with the number standing for the arm length.
