I went up and had a closer look and they looked good. To my suprise they turned out to be US Audio brand...and to my greater suprise they actually sounded pretty good - good enough for the purpose I need (as a secondary 5.1 system) and pretty bloody cheap around $1000 for big floorstanding fronts, centre, rears and hefty looking sub.
