It must support HDCP or it won't work. DVI won't handle audio and there's no analogue out so that could be an issue unless you have a plan for audio eg optical to hi-fi ...

The Apple TV works when I connect to a standard TV using an HDMI cable so no issue with Apple TV itself. I also connected my iPad to the monitor using a lightning to HDMI adapter then connecting via the DVI adapter and my iPad screen appeared on the monitor, so the monitor does work.

My 2011 MacBook Pro sends video via an HDMI to DVI cable to the Optoma (which has DVI-in, but not HDMI-in) and audio is sent over a long 3.5mm to red/white cable. However, the new Apple TVs don't appear to have a 3.5mm audio output? Moreover, it's not like the projector can take audio and send it on, as (unlike HDMI), DVI doesn't carry any sound.
