    I have read the earlier generations of Airport Express--in particular, the first generation--have less jitter than the later generations. Mine is first gen, bought new in 2005. The only issue is you need the older Airport assistant to set up the first-gen AE, and that older version of the Airport assistant won't run on Apple's latest OS, Mavericks.
