I’ve just pressed play on a video in safari and noticed that there’s an airplay icon next to the play button. I’ve pressed that but it still only streams audio. Hi AmyFeets. Both ways of enabling basic AirPlay (not mirroring) work the same. In this mode, the video URL is sent to Apple TV, which streams directly from the server.

Nov 13, 2013. #4. I read somewhere that in IOS7 some quality checking is done. If the connection doesn't meet the minimum requirements, the airplay option 'reduces' to Audio only. I used to be able to airplay to my Raspberry Pi with XBMC. Since IOS7 it only shows the Pi as an audio streaming option. Bit of a shame really.
