Hey folks. I justupgraded from an ATI HD2600 to the 8800GT Nvidia card. I'm loving the graphics, but one thing has me wondering.. I tried unplugging the HDMI cable form the TV and the sound came back on. It seems to me for some reason the TV thinks the 8800GT is outputting audio and is hence muting the 3.5mm input. To make matters worse the TV doesn't have an option to force the use of the 3.5mm input so I'm stuck with blank HDMI audio coming from the 8800 GT.

An adapter can take the DVI standard and translate to HDMI, but passing audio through depends on how the DVI connector is setup outside the spec to provide the audio pth. Worse, the reference GT board HAS the SPDIF passthru on the PC board, but noone so far has populated the components to activate the circuit.
