Hi everyone Hopefully someone can help with a problem I am havng with the HDMI sound output from my 8400gs. After a fresh install of Windows 7 x64, I install the drivers for my soundcard which is a Siig Soundwave 5.1 PCI (spdif connected to 8400gs)and sound is working through the HDMI output of the 8400gs.

Re: No sound GeForce 8400GS with HDMI cord. I got sound out of HDMI when I was using Vista with no problem. I cannot use the HDMI cord and the sound card at the same time now with Windows 8. To get sound I have to use the RGB connection and the audio card separately and forget the HDMI for awhile.

The audio in an HDMI cable is identical to COAXIAL audio. The only time I was able to use HDIM audio satisfactorily was with a Video card that had just a sp/diff input connection (no built-in audio) and a motherboard with a matching sp/diff output which, with the right cable, could be connected together.
