Using a 6AK5 in place of 6AU6 will work but there is a slight basing difference, 7BD vs 7BK. There are a lot of TV IF amplifier tubes that should also work. Most of time 6CB6, 6AG5, 6BC5 etc are considered useless but have the same basing. 6AK6 was made as an audio output tube and requires more grid bias.
