Not true, the 4850 supports audio over hdmi. You will have to switch it from the speakers to hdmi in the sound settings. Link to comment Share on other sites.

Right, Hooked up my ATI 4850 to the Onkyo 606 and can only get Stereo sound from the speakers - 5.1 or 7.1 won't show up in the Realtek Audio control panel This is what I've done so far: Plugged HDMI cable and official ATI DVI > HDMI adapter into port 1 on 4850 card. Installed latest Realtek Drivers (2.14) for Vista64.
