I mean, TECHNICALLY you could pass a digital signal over a 3.5mm jack that carries 5.1 audio, but there is no standard i know of in existence that does that. If you are using headphones, you can approximate 5.1 surround sound, but you really never can get true 5.1 surround sound from only two speakers in a room.
